Life is a Highway

I just got back from a whirlwind trip over to the mainland to take in a BCABBA competition. I had a chance to meet up with some friends at the comp - and then hit a quick leg session at an ultra-oldschool gym in Port Moody.

It was go-go-go all day.

I packed and prepped my food to take with me - kept it super simple so I could keep myself on track without having to cart around a tonne of Tupperware (even though that's what ended up happening anyway LOL!)

The workout was intense - but lower weight, higher reps than what I'm used to. I didn't have time to dick around figuring out the weight differences on machines, etc - so I just trained until I felt I had worked sufficiently - did A LOT of burn out sets to failure... not my favourite thing to do but, once in a while - what the hell.

I'm not even going to document my workout from today as it was totally different from what my plan calls for. Same muscle groups, same movements - but not my usual reps/weight. I just went HAM.

Judging by the way my lower half feels after sitting in the drivers seat for the majority of the afternoon/evening - I'm gonna be hurting tomorrow.

All in all, a good day - although the competition was a lot smaller than I had anticipated and didn't really give me a solid sense of what kind of "look" the judges are going after in figure (which was part of the reason I wanted to see it.)

The classes were small - so, not many major differences to physiques. Pretty much the standard "figure" look across the board - not TOO lean but still nice definition. I was sorta hoping to see a drastic contrast between some of the physiques to see which way the judges were leaning in their scoring (shreds vs. fuller)

OH and subtle differences to posing between OPA (Ontario) and BCABBA (BC) but nothing major. So I'm feeling confident about that aspect.

That said - the show I've entered is one of BC's biggest - which makes me nervous. I have to place top 3 to qualify for Provs.

So the gears are turning - I just want to ensure I bring my absolute best.

OH mah lawd, I'm rambling - it's 9:30pm and I've been up since 4am - I'm exhausted. My brain isn't working.

Bed TIME.
